It has been a fantastic year for family portraits at Spring Lake this year. Whether at the lake, beach, or my client’s homes, the weather held up most of the spring and summer. I am hoping that fall will have the typical vibrant colors around the lake area.
Many of these portraits are of Multiple Generation portraits. The grandparents often have a home in Spring Lake, and as a result, their children and grandchildren come to visit, which makes photographing the extended family more common than usual.
The Lake, Beach, or your Home
Let me first talk about why a lake is always a safe place for family portraits. First and foremost, there are many trees, and as a result, there is always shade. Shade is essential because it’s never good for the subjects to have their face in direct sunlight. Regardless of the time of day, there are many areas where the lighting will be flattering at the lake for your family portraits in Spring
The lake is also an excellent place to have various backdrops, all within a short walking distance. Families often to one grouping in one spot, walk to another area for another group, and so on. As a result, having their portraits displayed in their home makes it a more exciting collection.
Spring Lake Beach Portraits
Beach portraits are often my client’s favorite. The Jersey shore certainly makes for a beautiful backdrop. Especially at sunrise (yes, people wake up that early) or one hour before sunset. One hour before sunset, the sun softens up a bit, and the sky starts to turn into magnificent colors. My clients typically book the one hour before sunset. You need to book these appointments early since I can only photograph one family a day in the evening. That is the only dilemma with beach portraits; because of lighting, you can’t photograph families on the beach all day as you can do in a park.
Family Portraits at my Client’s Homes
There are many reasons to choose your home for family portraits. There’s the convenience factor. You can easily make a change of clothing. Your home often is a special place. Whether it’s your parent’s home and you spent your summers there, you have many memories from your home throughout the year. If I’m photographing multiple generational portraits, as I do all the breakdowns, the other families who aren’t being photographed at that time can hang in the house until it’s their turn. As a result, the families I am photographing are less distracted by what is going on around them.
Portraits at Arboretums
Some of my Spring Lake portrait clients don’t mind taking a ride. There are many beautiful arboretums throughout Monmouth County. Such as the Deep Cut Gardens. It’s a beautiful place for family portraits with many places to capture stunning images. If you have never been there, consider taking a ride with your family to walk around. You won’t regret it.
Family Portraits In Spring Lake
As you can see, there are many options for your Spring Lake family portraits. It’s truly a beautiful area to create a family heirloom that will be passed down from generation to generation.
